What in heaven’s name is a BLOGFEST ???? I want you to imagine 168 intense people with a million different opinions and thoughts on design which they happily share daily/weekly/monthly with the immediate world via their blogs on the Internet, all together participating in various non-stop design shows and events and panel discussions for three days…only taking breaks to sip a bit of champagne or nibble on a delicious tidbit just to keep their energy level up.
I’ve recreated the recipe for this highly successful ‘DESIGN SOUP’ from the the wonderful team at KRAVET. It is with great pleasure that I share it with you today. It’s not an easy recipe to duplicate, but certainly one well worth feasting on :

1 Tour of the ICFF show at the Javits Center in NYC.
1 Tour of the Kips Bay Decorator Show House presently open in NYC. Introduce yourself to Architectural Digest editor Margaret Russell. Visiting the beautifully design rooms a must…Talking with the designers highly suggested. Stir it up with a visit to the room of Jamie Drake.
1 Breakfast at the Hearst Building with Veranda and House Beautiful mags and a panel of successful interior designers, like Darryl Carter & Timothy Whealon. Schmoozing with the editors Dara Capanigro and Newell Turner allowed. Toss in a tad of new wave designers Jon Call, Jill Goldberg, and Michael Herod for good measure.
1 Private Tour of the Elle Decor Modern Life Concept House in NYC: Designers of rooms all present and delighted to talk to everyone. Michael Boodro, editor of Elle Decor, also present and upfront and central. Do not forget to simmer for several moments in the rooms of good design buddies Michael Tavano , Sherrill Canet , Katie Leede and Christopher Coleman.
Just a dollop of Keith Granet talking about his new book, Business of Design.
1 Visit to the GM Monogram showroom at the A&D Building to see the latest and the greatest.
1 1/2 hour private tour of the Kravet Studio facilities on W. 22nd Street. So much to see and learn about…strictly fascinating!
1 Session of talk about Color Pulse from Benjamin Moore and “thecolordoc” himself, John Turner.
1 Extra special panel discussion about Photography and Getting Into the Mags from Interiors mag big-wig Michael Wollaeger. Make sure panelists include designer, Miles Redd, photographer, Peter Aaron and former editor and blogger, Marisa Marcantonio.
Put all ingredients in a pot and simmer on a low light for three days.
When done, serve in the most beautiful dishes you can find, and nothing less…and top off with a fun raffle to raise money for DIFFA with the most yumaroo prizes you can imagine.
Make sure everyone gets a beautiful glass from glassybaby, a company owned by Lee Rhodes, that makes a great product with a poignant story behind it.
Salt and Pepper to taste.
Serve with a wonderful red wine, such as a Dolcetto d’ Alba and a crusty loaf of sour dough bread.
