THE CURATED MANSE: EXCEPTIONAL VIRTUAL DESIGN FOR THE REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY

I am always writing about interesting and unusual design and art that I see as I am hopping around this wild and wonderful world we live in.  I thought for a change I would put up something more personal…something about a new aspect of my design business that I am very excited about. It is called The Curated Manse.

Basically, The Curated Manse is a unique way to see the design potential of an apartment you are purchasing through top level virtual design. It also provides the ability to furnish a home or an apartment with top level interior design assistance and stylish and curated furnishings via an excellent turn-key service we offer.

Shields & Company Interiors, began this part of our interior design business in order to satisfy a client from India who was moving into a spectacular penthouse apartment in New York City and wanted everything picked out and executed quickly. The entire project was completed by communicating through our fabulous renderings.  AND our wonderful client…for she definitely was one…had no need to travel to New York City to envision the final results of her project.

I must emphasize that we are talking about high end turn-key design, which begins with the client receiving beautifully executed renderings completely detailed, showing what each room will look … down to each itty-bitty detail  so that there are no surprises. That also includes everything needed to live comfortably in the apartment or home: fine art, accessories, TV and stereo equipment, plus towels, dishes, pots & pans…you name it…all is selected before the completion of the project.

We have executed some very luxurious projects at some of the best addresses in New York City, as well as renderings for several new real estate development projects undertaken by major firms and brokers here in the city.

I should emphasize that The Curated Manse provides its unique services to all levels of interior design, commercial and residential.

Recently, we completed a simpler project  with Mondo Collection of a total makeover of a two-bedroom suite at the Lombardy Hotel in midtown Manhattan. I think you will enjoy this terrific video walk through put together by Alan Barry Photography...so please take a peek:

If you are looking for a fabulous place to stay when you visit New York City  you can always book this suite for you and your family! I know you will find it more than comfortable and luxurious for a hotel suite. AND, don’t forget to mention to the front desk that you know the design team that completed the renovation & design, The Curated Manse Team at Shields & Company!

Ciao, ciao…’til next time!

HOTEL DU PETIT MOULIN RECIEVES THE MAGIC TOUCH OF CHRISTIAN LACROIX

Paris is still the city to visit if you want to stay in a fabulously chic and sophisticated boutique hotel.  I use as a supreme example, the distinct Hotel Du Petit Moulin, located in the Marais District of Paris on Rue du Poitou.

The Marais District, with a rich history  dating back to the 13th Century,  is where today one finds The Picasso Museum and the Opéra Bastille , as well as charming boutiques, cafes, restaurants and the latest fashion finds.  With all of this in mind, enter stage left the outrageously talented Christian Lacroix, who, as you now from previous blogs on Dezignlicious, has ventured into the wild and wonderful world of interior design.

Lacroix is responsible for the titillating  update of the Hotel Du Petit Moulin.  It is full throttle Lacroix with bright colors,…THINK RED… mixed patterns and an array of exciting furnishings…and all with an upbeat French insouciante.

I am totally and completely smitten by the ingenuity of Lacroix’s and his take on interior design. I definitely chalk  it all up to his place as a top fashion designer of  haute couture.  He is “dressing” the rooms much like he dressed his runway models…totally devoid of any inhibition and looking to create a haute couture of interiors that is both memorable and distinctive.  Yea for Lacroix…I love it!

Interestingly enough, I have always been an admirer of his fashion sense but never saw myself wearing any of his clothing. I have also always enjoyed his inspirations in the furniture world, although in the past, most of his ideas pushed the envelope into beautiful but some what cartoon-like pieces that would be hard pressed to find comfortable accommodations in most homes.

Well for this lady, Lacroix has finally found his interior design groove, so to speak.  Actually, his designs for Roche Bobois have always been super attractive to me.  There he has mixed the past with the present…always with a French orientation…and added his touch for colorful + exciting fabrics to reinvent the classic French bergere, chaise or fauteuil.

Whatever your taste is in interior design and whether you prefer traditional or contemporary interiors you have got to admit that no one does it like Christian Lacroix.  AND wouldn’t you just like to spend at least one night in the Hotel Du Petit Moulin?

THE 5 MOST DEZIGNLICIOUS THINGS FROM 2015!

With another year drawing to close…yikes, they go fast lately…I always like to reflect on what I have written about and what I have experienced over the past year and share my favorite items and experiences with my readers.

Truth be told, I see so many fabulous pieces that it is hard to compile this “short list” sometimes.  However, it does sort of close out one year in the world of design for me and get me ready to see what new and dezignlicious things await me in the year to come.

Over the years, I have learned that the world of art and design is a bottomless pit of “terrifics” and “wonderfuls” and “to die fors” which is probably what keeps this passionate interior designer working and writing.

Nothing captivates me more than an artistic piece of studio furniture. The idea that something kind of has one foot in the world of art and the other in the world of furnishings delights me.  If it was up to me, I would opt for form over function any time!  Some of the best studio furniture is created by Elizabeth Garouste...as in this delightful Charly Cabinet…and you can see this beauty as well as other pieces designed by her at the Ralph Pucci Showroom here in New York City.

I am totally captivated by the photography of Marilyn Minter. It is so other-worldly and sexual and naughty and stunning all at the same time. I had the good fortune to attend a private talk with the artist at her studio here in the city and I have been a huge fan ever since.  This is one of my favorites and it is called “Siren”…and yes, I want it!

Veve makes some of the most beautiful Murano glass pieces and I have often used them in my interior design work. I think their customizable RGB Glass Curtain / Room Divider deserves a standing ovation for exceptional design concept. I simply adore the idea of dividing up a huge modern space with a “peek-a-boo,” colorful Murano glass screen, don’t you?  Not to mention how gorgeous the glass looks with any type of light shining through it…simply divine!

I met with the team at J Schatz when I was out in Los Angeles this year and fell in love with everything they do. Their  hand crafted wall of ceramic tiles is their signature piece and it can be easily customized into indoor or outdoor projects. The price point for the tiles is also quite reasonable, especially when you think about the great product you are buying. This is just another fantastic idea that takes your design into the  beyond ordinary category!

The Terranova Coffee Table is what I like to call a “to die for” piece of furniture. It’s totally unique, ultra thick slab of Statuary Marble is beyond fantastic.  KGBL…who I have written about several times…uses all of their materials in a way that truly makes each and everyone of their designs outstanding. This is definitely a table I would love to have in front of my sofa! How about you?

Priveekollektie Contemporary Art/Design  presented the Golden Lagoon Table and Champagne Chairs by designer Reinier Bosch at The Salon Art + Design show this year and I was totally blown away by the pieces. I am madly in love with the drippy gold details! The contrast between the sophisticated look of the  dining table and the simplicity of the chairs takes it’s design success up a notch for me. Basically,  I would kill to own them, even if you couldn’t use the table as a real dining room table!

With the closing out of this year, I wish one and all a life filled with beautiful things that delight the eyes and bring joy and comfort to your life!

Ciao , ciao ’til 2016!

HD BUTTERCUP: A NEW FIND AT DESIGN BLOGGERS CONFERENCE 2013

So perhaps you didn’t know that we design bloggers have our own very special conferences just like all other industries. I have to admit that this dezign girl  isn’t much of a conference junkie…something about hundreds of people getting together to talk for days about blogging sort of turns me off. But last year I got hooked on two great events that

GLAMOUROUS INTERIOR DESIGN + RESTAURANT: HARLOW AT THE LOMBARDY HOTEL

A GREAT DESIGN STORY: We all know the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale about the Ugly Duckling that nobody loves or pays attention to because she is all ‘dirty and brown’…basically no one can see the potential in what she will eventually turn into with care, love and time…the elegant white swan, admired by one and all.
